The recent study conducted by UNESPA reflects that during 2016 electrical damage accounted for €177,000,000 in household coverage costs.
Electrical and electronic equipment that is connected to the power grid, in some cases exchanging data and signals over communication lines, is highly sensitive to electrical disturbances. These interconnection networks provide a propagation path for transient and permanent overvoltages.
Considering that more than 95% of electrical and electronic devices in homes are made up of sensitive electronics, without adequate protection, power surges can end up destroying and/or shortening the life of these devices.
Installing a surge protector prevents the destruction of equipment and extends its useful life by more than 20%, which significantly reduces the volume of electronic waste. It also reduces the electrical consumption of installations, which translates into economic savings and environmental sustainability.
In addition, protect against lightning and surges avoids:
-
- Damage to persons
-
- Premature wear and tear and/or destruction of equipment and fire
-
- Service interruptions
-
- Profit foregone from the activity
-
- Loss of data
In short, adequate protection against lightning and surges is essential to prevent the damage they cause in homes.
