A surge protection device and an SSD designed to ensure correct protection performance
EGARA (SPD) and its Specific Disconnector (SSD) have been designed to work together and ensure correct overvoltage and overcurrent protection performance.
Unlike conventional solutions, both devices are designed and validated by Cirprotec, combining the Mersen Group’s expertise in overvoltage and overcurrent protection.
The result is a safer, more compact solution that is easier to select for today’s electrical panels.

The EGARA + SSD combination reduces the space occupied in the electrical panel by up to 50% compared to conventional solutions with a generic upstream protection device. This configuration is possible thanks to the joint design, validation and testing of both devices.
This makes it easier to design more efficient electrical panels, optimises the available space and simplifies the integration of surge protection in modern installations.

EGARA and SSD have been jointly designed and validated to work together safely against short-circuit currents of up to 100 kA.
A combination designed for demanding installations, where protection must respond reliably even under extreme conditions.

The specific SSD simplifies the selection of back-up protection and reduces the risk of coordination errors.
SSD 1 covers the 12.5 kA EGARA 1 range, and SSD 1H covers the 25 kA EGARA 1H range.

EGARA and SSD allow both surge protection and overcurrent protection to be monitored, with remote end-of-life indication.
This simplifies maintenance, improves visibility of the installation status and helps maintain service continuity.
In addition, the SSD can be opened safely while the installation remains in operation.
